Week 4: Technology, equipment and library visit

No unread replies. No replies.

Welcome to week 4!

This week we will be meeting outside the front of the City of Vincent Library. You will find free 3-hour parking there. You do need to get a ticket to display, but it is free.

At the library, we will be hearing from local history librarian Catherine, who will be chatting to us about the oral history collection there, the recording equipment she uses. She will also share some of the oral history projects (including the East Perth Power Station project) she has been involved in and the transcripts of some of those interviews.

In the second part of the session, you and I will sit and chat about your journal responses in relation to technology.

And finally, I will introduce you to next week's topic, which is finally about how you might create the questions to ask.

A reminder about the readings for this week:

  • Ritchie, pp. 45–51, 103–106
  • Ritchie,  pp. 137–142 (with the rest of the chapter being optional if video is a realistic option for you).
  • Robertson, pp. 29–50 (rest of the chapter optional)

Journal entries:

  • draft an initial response to questions
  • post the tutorial questions into the relevant discussion post

As always, I'm just an email away if you need to talk about any of the above.

See you Friday!

Melinda
